Workers who receive tips will get a wage increase from $4.08 an hour to $4.15.
The new figure will be set at €9.55 per hour - an increase of 30c per hour.
A new year on Monday will bring a slight increase in New Jersey's minimum wage.
The 15-cent increase for 2018 is the largest hourly increase since 2012, when the wage rose by 36 cents an hour, according to the Department of Economic Opportunity.
The new minimum wage would result in an Irish worker taking home a gross income of €1,613.95 per month, and €1,521.57 after tax.
"We though are concerned about further efforts to increase that and make MI an even greater outlier in this area", says Block. This is the third increase for fast-food employees in NY since a state wage board recommended the pay raises in 2015. Each year, the wage is to increase with a rate of inflation. The increase will be phased in over a longer period for workers in the rest of the state.
However, the minimum wage increases only apply to restaurants that are part of a chain of 30 or more locations nationwide.
Whether it's five cents, as in 2017 or the fifteen cents for 2018, minimum wage workers will use what they can make to help them in their quest for making a decent living.
Governor Cuomo announced Sunday that 2018 will see the beginning of various economic justice programs for the middle class, including minimum wage increases, paid family leave policy, and tax cuts for the middle class.
Assemblyman Andy Goodell, R-Jamestown, said many economic studies have been done that show there will be a loss of entry-level jobs as the wages in NY state increase.
"The minimum wage increase, new paid family leave requirements and the state's proposed employee scheduling regulations are concerning to employers in the area", he said.
