Fans have been steadily pushing for a Black Widow movie since the character's MCU debut in 2010's Iron Man 2, bothbecause of the character's nearly unique place in the franchise as its most prominent female superhero and Scarlett Johansson's star power.
Marvel is moving ahead with the highly anticipated solo Black Widow movie starring Scarlett Johansson and already has a writer on board for the project. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige met with several potential writers before selecting Jac Schaeffer, and executives also met with Scarlett Johansson herself to get her input on what she wanted from a BLACK WIDOW writer. That's precisely why fans have been begging for a Black Widow solo movie ever since then, to explore the character much the same way as numerous other big Avengers were in their own outing.
After what has felt like a lifetime, it looks like Marvel is finally giving the fans what they want - a Black Widow solo movie. I've been living this story with these people for 10 years through ups and downs. When pressed, Feige would reassure fans that it was in development, but come up with excuses as to why it wasn't making much progress. It has been said that Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 will be game changers for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At a time when we're discussing the patriarchy and pay gap that exists in Hollywood nearly every other day, a character like Black Widow played by an actor such as Johansson being put on the back burner fees particularly egregious, in some ways. "We think she's an incredible character". She has a rich history that's still being revealed, even after so long, and a dynamic relationship with each of her avenging colleagues. Despite critical review of her past Marvel performances, Johansson has a history of popular films. If its true then being Black Widow might be best deal in the MCU.
The lack of such a film has also been considered something of a missed opportunity since Marvel has yet to release a superhero film with a female lead.
