Defending champions India beat Pakistan by 7 wickets

India has defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in an important match of the World Cricket Cup of the Blind at the Oval Ground in Ajman, UAE today (Friday). West Indies were similar under-achievers at the junior level until past year when they notched their first ever U-19 World Cup win. Five of Pakistan's key players were missing as they failed to obtain visas in time. Batting first Pakistan scored a total of 282 runs in their quota of 40 overs for the loss of 8 wickets.

Brief Scores: Pakistan 282/8 (Mohammad Jamil 90 retd hurt) lost to India 285/3 (Deepak Malik 79) by seven wickets.

In reply Indian comfortably chased the target in 34.5 overs by losing only 3 wickets.

India's refusal to travel to Pakistan for the World Cup forced the organisers to shift all their matches to UAE.

On television, the reach of the ICC U19 CWC will be spread across five continents as ICC will continue its long-term partnerships with various broadcast partners including Star Sports (India and the rest of the Indian Sub-continent), Sky Sports (United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland), SuperSport (South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa), OSN (Middle East & North Africa).

With this win, India climbed to the top of their group, followed by Pakistan.

In the last match, Deepak Malik scored unbeaten 179 runs as India stunned Sri Lanka by six wickets.

The tournament includes teams from cricket-playing nations such as Australia, England and India.

The final of the tournament will be held on January 19 in Sharjah.
