Oprah Winfrey Nailed Her Inspiring And Empowering Golden Globes Speech

President Donald Trump says he would beat Oprah Winfrey in a presidential contest, but says: "I don't think she's going to run".

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders was also drawn into the speculation on Tuesday about a potential Winfrey candidacy.

"I'm sure if she decides to run, which I think the president states he doesn't feel she will, I'm sure she'll have help with that", Sanders added.

Winfrey's impassioned call for "a brighter morning even in our darkest nights" at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday had Democratic Party activists buzzing about the media superstar and the 2020 presidential race. He said "Oprah would be a lot of fun". "We welcome the challenge whether it be Oprah Winfrey or anybody else".

King, a CBS host, says that Winfrey is "intrigued by the idea" of a presidential bid in 2020, but that after a long conversation with her friend the night before, she doesn't see it happening.

"Look, I disagree very much on her policies", the spokeswoman said. "But I don't think she's actively considering it at this time". "Oprah. Oprah, you're a competitor, right?"

Republican President Donald Trump's daughter endorsed her message - if not a political future - in a tweet saying: "Just saw @Oprah's empowering and inspiring speech at last night's #GoldenGlobes". Let's all come together, women & men, & say #TIMESUP! She spoke about the feelings she had as a young girl watching Sidney Poitier win the best-actor Oscar in 1964 and likened the pride she felt watching Poitier, the first black man to win that trophy, to the impact she hoped she could have on young women today. "You can make a lofty donation to the Time's Up Legal Defense Fund that is available to support your father's accusers". She's a terrific woman.

As her longtime partner Stedman Graham watched from the audience, she told the story of a black woman from Alabama named Recy Taylor, who died at the age of 97 on December 28, 2017, and her fight for justice after her rape by six white men in 1944.

The backlash on Twitter was swift, with actress Alyssa Milano and others noting that Ms Trump's father has been accused by several women of sexual harassment and was recorded bragging about sexual assault.

"Oprah cometh", tweeted actress Amber Tamblyn, while musician Pharrell Williams called her the greatest of all time.

Sanders was also asked whether she believed Winfrey was qualified to run for president.
