Asus rumoured to unveil ZenFone 5 Lite at MWC 2018

Those who were waiting for an official confirmation, the company has now taken to Twitter to announce that it will hold an event on February 27 at MWC 2018 to unveil the ZenFone 5 series.

Photos have been revealed of the rumoured phone, and clearly, show a vertical dual camera module on the back of the phone as well as two selfie cameras on the front. The dual back cameras both have 16-megapixel sensors. What's practically etched in stone is that secondary lenses will be used for wide-angle shots.

Talking about the ZenFone 5 Lite, the smartphone will also reportedly feature an 18:9 display with FHD+ resolution.

If the ZenFone 5 Lite is priced similarly to the ZenFone 4, it could hit in the $300-ish range, if or when it arrives in the US. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the renders.

The Asus ZenFone 5 Lite appears to have the same design language as the regular ZenFone 5 (which is expected to sport a 5.7-inch screen).

The rumours come via notorious tipster Evan Blass and state that the company's latest handset will be called the ZenFone 5 Lite, and is expected to tout four camera sensors, two on the front and two at the back, just like Honor's latest Honor 9 Lite smartphone. In terms of color options, the ZenFone 5 Lite will be available in Midnight Black, Moonlight White, and Rouge Red colors.

The "Lite" model is expected to be the midrange Android phone. Well, the post doesn't exactly mention the ZenFone 5 name, but the hints are enough for us to make an educated guess. ASUS usually launches their more affordable offerings in the Indian market, so there is a good chance that the ZenFone 5 Lite may land in the Indian market later this year.

Unfortunately, there is not much information on the other smartphones of the ZenFone 5 series.
