Sergio Aguero faces a two-week lay off with a knee injury

The striker, City's leading scorer this season with 30 goals, has indicated he will be out for around two weeks after suffering the injury on Saturday.

"During yesterday's training I had a discomfort on my left knee", Aguero posted on his official Twitter account.

With the spell out, Aguero is set to miss City's Monday clash at Stoke City in the Premier League along with Argentina's worldwide friendlies against Italy and Spain.

"The doctors at the club confirmed to me that in a couple of weeks I can be back". Now it's time for a full recovery'.

The frontman will, however, be hopeful of a return to action before the end of this month, with Argentina taking on Italy on March 23 at the Etihad Stadium.

Aguero will have ample time to recover from his setback, with Manchester City not having a scheduled fixture until March 31 - when they travel to Goodison Park to face Everton. "I know anything can happen, but I'm sure that the more you play, the quicker that fear is going to go away".

United are the closest team to City and tightened their grip on second place by beating Liverpool 2-1 over the weekend.

Jesus is focused on playing his part as City look to wrap up the Premier League title and continue to make progress in Europe.

After lifting the Carabao Cup in February, City are pushing for a treble as they are a lock for the Premier League title and are serious contenders in the UEFA Champions League as well.
