Batshuayi grabs last-gasp victor

And Reus, who himself penned a new deal to commit his future to Dortmund recently, wants his team to bring the 24-year-old Belgium worldwide to central Europe permanently if they can strike a deal with Chelsea.

Having gone without a goal in five matches following his excellent start at Dortmund since arriving on loan from Chelsea, Batshuayi started on the bench for the first time.

Batshuayi has plundered seven goals in nine matches since he completed a six-month temporary switch from Stamford Bridge to Dortmund, with braces against FC Koln, Frankfurt and Atalanta all proving to be decisive in helping his new club achieve victory in those three contests.

Batshuayi quickly restored Dortmund's lead just 15 minutes after his introduction and the Belgian netted a last-gasp victor having seen Danny Blum level matters just three minutes earlier in stoppage time.

"I'm very relieved because I have not scored in recent games and have been able to help my team in the Champions League fight", Batshuayi told Goal.com after the game.

And the Belgium worldwide admitted that because he had finally been starting in games, he lacked freshness in recent weeks.

He said: "I'd be very pleased if Michy were to stay". And it was clever.

Dortmund had not counted on Eintracht's resilience, though, and they levelled again in the first minute of added time, Blum tapping in at the back post from a Danny da Costa cross. That's why I was happy.

The result lifted Dortmund to 45 points, one behind second-placed Schalke 04, one ahead of fourth-placed Bayer Leverkusen and three in front of Eintracht who have slipped to fifth.

Despite Dortmund's patchy performances, they remain unbeaten in the domestic league under coach Peter Stoger, who is only under contract until the end of the season.

The win kept Dortmund in third place, while in Sunday's other game RB Leipzig were held to a 0-0 draw at Stuttgart that prevented them from breaking into the top four.

And, speaking to kicker, sporting director Michael Zorc has said that a decision over the new Dortmund coach has not been made.

Those missed chances almost came back to haunt BVB, as Danny Blum slid in to convert a Danny da Costa at the back stick, yet incredibly there was still time for Batshuayi to win it for his side. The 19-year-old American now has four goals and five assists this season.
