The highly regarded prospect is talented enough to spearhead the Tigers in the NCAA tournament, but he figures to be plenty rusty after missing essentially the entire season following back surgery. Missouri is expected to be selected for the NCAA Tournament on Sunday.

The Seminoles lost in their first ACC Tournament game against Louisville.

The victor will probably meet No. 1 seed Xavier (28-5) in the next round Sunday.

Mizzou is the eighth seed in the west and will play the ninth seed Florida State Friday in Nashville.

The team's matchup against Missouri will carry additional intrigue thanks to the return of Mizzou's Michael Porter Jr., a consensus five-star recruit and potential National Basketball Association lottery pick who was sidelined until the SEC tournament, where he only played in one game before his team was sent back to Columbia to await its tournament seeding. He played for the first time since injuring his back in the season-opener against Iowa State.

But first things first and that is the Tigers first round matchup against the Seminoles of Florida State.

A University of Missouri police spokesman says Mizzou basketball forward Jordan Barnett was arrested overnight on charges of DWI and failing to drive in one lane.

More to the point, MU doesn't need to have the idea of playing Kansas in its grill when it has to have one singular focus with a team full of players who never have appeared in an NCAA Tournament game: winning its first NCAA game since 2010 to snuff out the school's longest NCAA victory drought since the one between 1944 and 1976.

"It will be the next man up", Martin said, "and we keep moving". "We've managed to get to this point". "There's a chance we can play in the NCAA Tournament, and there's a chance we can go to the NIT". Martin pockets a $25,000 bonus for making the tournament with more to earn should the Tigers advance beyond the second round. "You'll be the team that turned it around", said Martin.
