Former New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola is expected to sign with the Miami Dolphins, according to Dan Hellie of The NFL Network. He led the team in catches (26) and receiving yards (348) and was second in touchdowns with two.
The good news - it looks like Danny Amendola is staying in the AFC East.
Amendola, who took pay cuts in each of the past three offseasons to remain with the Patriots, is coming off one of the best seasons of his career.
Amendola, 32, will best be known for his playoff performances in his five seasons with New England. They also still have Brandin Cooks and Chris Hogan on the outside, as well as Phillip Dorsett and Kenny Britt.
Amendola caught 61 passes for 659 yards and two touchdowns in the 2017 regular season, and was New England's star in the AFC Championship Game. The Patriots made efforts to conserve his snap counts to keep him healthy for the postseason, and it paid off in 2014 and 2016.
But they're losing a clutch performer, whether on third down or throughout the playoffs, a favorite of Tom Brady and a locker-room leader who will now see them twice per season.
There has been no official confirmation from Amendola or the Patriots.
He was also as tough as anyone in the locker room.
