WWE Fastlane 2018: Styles retains WWE Championship, Asuka challenges Charlotte at Wrestlemania

The Women's Champion forced Riott to tap via her "Figure Eight" submission move to retain the title.

Tonight's event will go a long way in finalizing the WWE Heavyweight Championship match as Aj Styles is set to defend his title at Fastlane against John Cena, Baron Corbin, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler. It means the imported talent over the past two years is set to lead another era in this business. To the best of my knowledge, Asuka hasn't yet chosen an opponent after her Royal Rumble win.

AJ Styles (WWE Championship), Charlotte Flair (SmackDown Women's Championship), Bobby Roode (United States Championship) and The Usos (SmackDown Tag Team Championship) will all put their belts on the line.

The first-ever women's Royal Rumble match victor Asuka made it official on Sunday that she wants a fight with Miss Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania in the WWEFastlane.

Well, it would be fitting for the GM of Smackdown Live Daniel Bryan to make his one time in-ring return.

The 37-year-old dominated the match against Roode, who had won the title in January after defeating India's Jinder Mahal.

There wasn't much hype for WWE Fastlane 2018, but the show more than exceeded those expectations with a stellar show from top to bottom, including some major WrestleMania 34 developments as well.

I was pretty surprised to see Big E not be part of the match. There isn't even an announced pre-show match yet. Everything was rounded out with the addition of John Cena last week, presumably to punch up the main event's star power. So while Cena is probably the best of his generation of superstars in the WWE I think most wouldn't rate him as the greatest of all time.

There was no real reason for the Usos/New Day feud to reignite this close to WrestleMania, with no fancy stips added to the match, unless they were both about to get fed to the mallet monsters. I can imagine this match being in the running to steal the show, as Rusev should inspire Nakamura to pull out a solid one. This tag match is the biggest selling point of Fastlane aside from the potential of simply seeing The Undertaker.

JOHN POWELL: I really, really don't get the booking here.

Styles is looking towards possibly headlining WrestleMania with Nakamura, in a match that many fans are stoked to see in WWE. It just doesn't seem like an organized card.

The following matches are advertised for WrestleMania 34, which will be held on April 8 in New Orleans, Louisiana at Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
