The company added the feature to the desktop version of YouTube a year ago and has been met with much demand from consumers to implement the same feature in the mobile apps.
Google is rolling out its dark theme update to iOS users today, and plans to release the update to Android users "soon". Lo and behold, YouTube for Android and iOS is finally gaining the elusive dark mode, reports The Verge.
Nearly a year after it rolled out on Google Chrome, dark mode is coming to YouTube's mobile app. If you activate Dark Mode, the background on the YouTube app will become black instead of the standard white. "Dark theme", and letting you toggle it on right away.
YouTube first introduced a dark theme on its platform last summer with an update to the web-app and is introducing it to mobile for the first time with this update after a brief testing period. Although there is no way of making the app automatically switching between the dark and light themes depending on the time of the day, the addition of the new dark theme will be welcomed by many.
A lot of people who aren't subscribed to a music streaming service like Google Play Music or Spotify like listening and discovering new tracks on YouTube.
