Wilson eventually signed a four-year, $87.6 million extension but it wasn't fully guaranteed. New deals can't become official until the new league year begins at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The Jets have the most cap space in the National Football League entering free agency at a touch under $90 million and could match any offer the Vikings make - or any other team, for that matter. Cousins numbers are nearly the same as Case Keenum's numbers last year, with the only difference being that Cousins has averaged that over three years and Keenum was a breakout in 2017.

Then, yesterday, as pointed out locally by 104.3 The Fan's Zak Bye, Cousin penned a goodbye blog to Washington fans that tagged the Jets and the Vikings, but not the Broncos. The Vikings, ostensibly, would be signing Cousins - whose career record as a starter with the Redskins is 26-30-1 - because they believe he can take them a step further.

Teddy Bridgewater is the New York Jets next plan after their attempts to lure Cousins for more than the Vikings fell through, according to ESPN.

"Will only confirm they'll get the first visit", McCartney told the the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Since Favre's retirement in 2010, the Vikings have tried a bevy of quarterbacks from draft picks to free agent signings.

On Monday night, Schefter reported that Keenum was ready to sign a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos, becoming the first quarterback domino to fall this offseason.

"As I'm about to make one of the bigger decisions of my life, I'll be saying goodbye to my familiar life as a Redskin", he wrote in a blog post on his website. The rash of injuries to quarterbacks makes the guarantee a risky deal, but at three years, Minnesota seems willing to pull the trigger on it. His five-year Pro Bowl streak also ended.

With Bridgewater still not cleared for game action, Case Keenum stepped into the starting role and thrived, throwing for 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 67.6 percent of his passes.

The Washington quarterback will sign a three-year, $84 million contract.
