The reason why Joss Whedon created Buffy the Vampire Slayer was in order to play with traditional horror tropes and turn someone who'd normally be a damsel in distress into the heroine. "And until Joss decides it's time, it won't happen".
Hear that Joss? If the apocalypse comes and you want to return to Buffy, beep Fox.
Whedon has previously stated that he doesn't plan to do revivals for any of the shows that he's worked on in spite of fan interest. There are several Buffy the Vampire Slayer podcasts like "Buffering" or "Buffy Talk". It's not so that executives can take a product that ended on its own terms and try to make it new again.
"Everything sort of finds its way back somewhere", Joss told EW.
"I've been trying deliberately to move forward and do something a little bit different", he told Entertainment Weekly when the cast reunited in 2017. Buffy broke new ground so that other shows could build on it. If we did it with these guys, they'd be the age they basically are. But yeah, you'd see somebody going through their life at a different stage.
Amusing enough Buffy the Vampire Slayer just celebrate it's 21st anniversary since first debuting on the air and now there's talk about a potential revival. Or will they influence the stories for the revival a la the Star Wars Expanded Universe?
