Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone hailed a fantastic Antoine Griezmann after another match-winning performance in Sunday afternoon's 3-0 La Liga victory against Celta Vigo, while refusing to be drawn on the latest reports linking the France global with a €100 million summer move to Barcelona.

Atletico Madrid will reportedly make one last attempt to convince Antoine Griezmann to remain at the club, by offering him a new contract amid interest from Barcelona. Atletico are second in the standings on 64 points after 28 games while leaders Barcelona have 72 after winning 2-0 at Malaga on Saturday and third-placed Real Madrid have 57.

Atletico's only recent setback was a 1-0 loss at Barcelona in the previous round, a result that damaged the team's title hopes.

The striker has suffered through a disappointing season which saw his club crash out of the Champions League at the hands of Roma and Chelsea. Sevilla plays at Manchester United in the Champions League Tuesday in the last-16 second leg. Griezmann has proved his worth day in and day out at Wanda Metropolitano ever since he joined Atletico from Real Sociedad.

Regarding Vitolo, who scored his first league goal for the club since his January arrival from Las Palmas, the Colchoneros boss revealed: "Vitolo's goal made the match a lot more comfortable for us". Earlier yesterday, Gerard Moreno got the victor, his 12th goal of the season, as Espanyol beat Real Sociedad 2-1.

Willian Jose opened the scoring for the visitors just before halftime but Leo Baptistao equalized for Espanyol early in the second half.

The home side grabbed the victor in the 51st minute when Gerard Moreno was fouled in the box by Real keeper Jose Angel Moya and picked himself up to squeeze home the resulting penalty.

Villarreal are sixth after a 2-0 win at struggling Las Palmas, secured thanks to a second-half Carlos Bacca strike and a stoppage-time Nicola Sansone penalty. The victory allowed Espanyol to overtake Sociedad for 13th place.

Garcia scored in the 10th and 17th minutes at San Mames Stadium to move Athletic to 12th place.
