According to reports, the doctors were traveling in an Innova auto, which crashed with a container killing three of them instantly near Milestone 88 of Surir Kotwali police station area in Mathura.
It is learnt that these seven doctors had left Delhi at midnight to celebrate the birthday of Dr Wankhade, a senior resident at AIIMS.
Yamuna Expressway is notorious for accidents. The three doctors killed were identified as Dr. Yashpal, Dr. Harshad, and Dr. Hembala. "Among the injured, Dr Catherin who is from Tripura has head injuries while the others - Jitendra Maurya, Mahesh Kumar and Abhinava Singh - have injuries on their limbs. The speeding auto rammed into the rear of a truck", the DSP said. Four others were critically injured, said the Uttar Pradesh police. The driver was also injured and admitted to AIIMS.
The SP said immediate help was provided as the information about the accident reached the police through dial 100. The intensity of the accident was such that all people who were in the vehicle got stuck.
The injured were immediately shifted to the Niyati Hospital and the bodies to the district hospital, a police officer said.
"Despite concern being raised at various platforms, the number of accidents on Yamuna Expressway was highest in year 2016, which saw 1,193 accidents where 128 people lost their lives".
Yamuna Expressway is one of the most unsafe expressways where such incidences happen often.
In 2015, 142 people died in accidents on the Yamuna Expressway.
