Following the shooting, San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini said: "When officers arrived they encountered numerous police fleeing from the building". "I know a lot of you are in shock right now". A fourth person was injured as people scrambled off the patio outside the cafe on campus.

YouTube deleted her account subsequent to the shooting. However, multiple news sources, including Newshub and ABC 7, discovered that she had complaints against YouTube, including the demonetization of her videos.

There had been earlier media reports that the man shot was Aghdam's boyfriend, but police later said; "At this time there is no evidence that the shooter knew the victims of this shooting or that individuals were specifically targeted".

He said two additional gunshot victims were found at an adjacent business minutes later. The US media stated that the incident was the outcome of a domestic dispute. A 36-year-old man was taken to the San Francisco General Hospital in critical condition, and two women, 32 and 27, were taken to the same hospital in serious condition.

Dr. Andre Campbell said the three patients were all conscious and none had yet gone into surgery. "Shocked, like we are every time these bad things happen".

Another employee, Vadim Lavrusik, tweeted he was barricaded in a room with other staff.

"We were sitting in a meeting and then we heard people running because it was rumbling the floor. Got evacuated it. Outside now".

The suspect in a gun attack at YouTube's headquarters in California had expressed anger over its treatment of her video postings, media reports say.

"It was terrifying", she said.

She said the woman wore glasses and a scarf and was using a "big huge pistol".

A witness reported hearing as many as 20 shots, according to KRON.

Michael Finney, a 21-year-old supervisor at Carl's Jr. across from the campus, said he came out of the bathroom to see a woman in a booth bleeding from the calf. "Our hearts go out to those who suffered in this particular attack", he said. "She must have been deceased after that because I didn't hear anything after that", he said.

Police later found her sleeping in her vehicle in Mountain View, 25km (15 miles) south of the YouTube offices in San Bruno and reported this to her family, but they did not detain her. Several roadways near the building were closed to traffic.

The White House said President Donald Trump had been briefed and that his administration was monitoring the ongoing situation in San Bruno.

"Was just briefed on the shooting at YouTube's headquarters in San Bruno, California. Thank you to our phenomenal Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders that are now on the scene", he wrote. Again we have a report of a subject with a gun. The California Democrat wrote: "My stomach sinks with yet another active shooter alert". "There is no equal growth opportunity on YOUTUBE or any other video sharing site". In 2006, Google said it was purchasing YouTube for $1.65 billion in stock.

Some 1,700 people work at the YouTube HQ.

San Bruno is about 13 miles south of San Francisco.
