When the Longwood men's golf team faced this obstacle at the Manor Invitational this past weekend, they rose to the occasion.

"Having most of those kids play in pressure situations, we were relatively inexperienced and we got some experience", he said. "Everyone on the team would tell you they could have played better than they did, and so we know we have room to improve and we will try to get that done during practice and eventually tournaments", Mitchell said.

"I knew I was really going to excel, it was definitely probably previous year when I won regionals".

The scores led the Cardinals but were not low enough to win individual meet honors.

The Brickyard Collegiate marked the last stop of an impressive season for Hokie women's golf.

To conclude regular season play, the United Kingdom men's golf team finished in first place out of 13 teams by shooting 35-under par in a 54-hole event at the Gary Koch Invitational in Gastonia, North Carolina.




"We just want to compete in all of our duals and all of our tournaments", Shineman said. Carson Mundy is a junior who is new to the team, but has some recreational golf experience and has demonstrated some positives for Matthews and the coaches up to this point which could land him in the starting lineup.

The Bulldogs will play next at the two-day Hartford Invitational on April 14-15, their final tournament before the Ivy Championships. "If we continue playing like this, then I think we'll surprise a lot of other teams".

But there are four returning players from that team, giving coach Aaron Anderson some hope that his team could be better this spring.

Waverly Golf Course opened for play at 11 a.m. today.

"(My) putting was phenomenal, I was hitting my approach shots pretty good and driving was pretty good too", he said.

The tournament, originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, was rescheduled to Friday and Saturday due to anticipated rough weather conditions.
