On Friday, with Anish Bhanwala's gold, India went past its medal tally at Glasgow.

In a sensational CWG debut, Anish shot a Games record score of 30 to claim the top prize in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event.

The 37-year-old Tejaswini claimed the top prize by shattering the Games record in women's 50m rifle 3 positions event while putting in the shade compatriot and silver victor Anjum Moudgil's remarkable resilience.

"Being able to win the double is a memory I'll never forget", Semenya said.

The rising shooter recently won a gold medal at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Sydney where he finished atop the podium in the same event.

ANGRY Indian officials have vowed to appeal after two of the country's athletes were kicked out of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games over a second syringe scandal.




The shooting ranges provided a second gold on the same day for the first time these Games.

The 19-year-old grappler failed to replicate his good performance in the Games so far and slumped to a 0-4 defeat to Jason Whateley of Australia in the semi-final bout to settle for the bronze medal.

Yesterday, India had won a two gold, a silver and a bronze in the three-day competition. Bajrang won the gold medal in the 65kg category, while Mausam Khatri (97kg) and Pooja Dhanda (57kg) won a silver each and Divya Kakran (68kg) bagged a bronze medal.

Indian coach Deepali Deshpande added, "I am very happy for both of them". General team manager Namdev Shirgaokner said, "We don't agree with some decisions, and we will discuss with our higher authorities".

The CGF's Federation Court ruled Babu and Thodi had provided "evasive and unreliable" evidence following an investigation. The 37-year-old qualified for the finals with a record-breaking effort, where he scored a total of 1180 (58x) while breaking Olympic medallist Gagan Narang's existing qualification record of 1166. There is no doping offence involved.

The athletes at the center of the storm have been incommunicado since the controversy broke out and are expected to catch a flight to India tonight.
