On April 12 at approximately 1:10 p.m., firefighters responded to Woodville Road in Brandywine for the report of brush fire.

When crews arrived, they found the brush fire had spread to a nearby abandoned garage.

Dry conditions and high winds were contributing to brush fires around the region Friday. No properties were reported damaged, despite at least seven residences being evacuated in the Schuyler area, near Bungletown and Green Creek roads.

Crews were able to stop the progress and contain the flames around 8 p.m. The captain said Chula Vista Police Department was on scene to investigate the claims.

It took firefighters from five departments just over three hours to put out the fire, which burned about 7 acres.

A brush fire broke out along the 54 Freeway in National City late Sunday morning, and witnesses blamed a man seen throwing something into the brush shortly before the blaze started.
