Bloomington police say a man wanted for holding a woman captive and assaulting her has been critically injured after shooting himself in the head while fleeing officers. Her father accompanied to the police station where she filed a case against the accused, the officer said.
After leaving Florida, cops believe she drove 1,300 miles along the gulf coast to Louisiana and remains in Corpus Christi, Texas.
"Riess's mode of operation is to befriend women who resemble her and steal their identity", Lee County Undersheriff Carmine Marceno said. "U.S. Marshals are actively involved in a national search for this unsafe fugitive".
Her husband of 15 years, Giedrius (pictured with his wife), said she was a "wonderful mother to their two children, who are nine and 12, and that they were a very happy family". One Millville and two Winslow cops were involved in the shooting. Police tried to track down Riess with no luck. She was allegedly beaten with belts and rods.
Richardson was wanted on charges including attempted murder, criminal confinement, and strangulation. On April 10, a man lodged a missing report in police post Chowki Choura that his daughter has gone missing since April 9, a police official said.
