Multiple emergency crews are responding to a small plane crash in western Albemarle County near Crozet.
First responders were called out to private property near Saddle Hollow Road around 9 p.m. Sunday, April 16.
A small plane crashed in thick woods near the Bexar-Medina county line Sunday morning killing the pilot and starting a brush fire.
The remains of the victim will be transferred to the Office of the Medical Examiner for autopsy, examination and positive identification.
Members of the Virginia State Police, National Transportation Security Board (NTSB), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are conducting a preliminary investigation.
Investigators said the aircraft caught on fire when it went down, making it hard to identify the type of plane.
