Russia Knows Responsible for Sketch of Chemical Attack in Syria

Russian Federation and Iran have warned the United States and its allies of grave consequences following America's attack on a Syrian "chemical weapons sites", in collaboration with UK and France.

A USA official told Reuters the strikes were aimed at multiple targets and involved Tomahawk cruise missiles. In a warning to the West against further strikes on Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry said it is now considering arming Assad with Russian S-300 long-range surface-to-air missile systems for the first time.

The attack has drawn worldwide outrage and prompted the United States and its allies to consider a military strike on Syria, something Moscow has strongly warned against.

Speaking of Assad and his suspected role in last week's chemical weapons attack, Trump said, "These are not the actions of a man".

Mr Borodin wrote last month about the death of people said to be Russian mercenaries.

"Even non-significant incidents would lead to new waves of migrants to Europe and to other consequences, which neither we nor our European neighbours need", Lavrov said.

It was unclear what the approach might mean for Russian and Iranian forces in Syria. Pierce said she wanted "to state categorically ... that Britain has no involvement and would never have any involvement in the use of a chemical weapon".

Since taking office a year ago, Trump has tried to build stronger ties with Putin.

As fears of a Russia confrontation with Western powers mount, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his "deep concerns" over the situation in Syria in a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

A highly placed Russian politician is likening President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler after the launch of airstrikes against Syria, and says he regards the action as a move against Russia.

"Insulting the President of Russian Federation is unacceptable and inadmissible". That would likely happen again, said US officials. "On the one hand, not hitting Assad harder would be a sign of weakness".

"We are continuing to assess intelligence and are engaged in conversations with our partners and allies", it added.

Tayyip Erdogan, president of Syria's neighbour Turkey which is also in North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, said on Friday he had spoken by phone with Trump and Putin and told both that increasing tension in the region was not right.

"This is grotesque, it is a blatant lie, it is the worst piece of fake news we've yet seen from the Russian propaganda machine", said Britain's United Nations ambassador Karen Pierce.

President Donald Trump has already indicated he would like to withdraw the approximately 2,000 USA ground troops now in northern Syria, where they've been assisting Syrian Kurds to defeat Islamic State militants. Yet in actuality, the strikes are more of an indication of Russia's successful ability to cause Western powers to limit their action, and opt for extreme caution in their response to Assad's crimes against humanity. A USA -led coalition has been conducting airstrikes in Syria since September 2014 as part of a largely successful effort to break the IS grip on both Syria and Iraq.

France said Thursday it has proof that Syrian government forces, which Russian Federation has pledged to protect, conducted the attack.

Otherwise, he played the traditional role of a national security adviser, making sure participants were able to offer their opinions, this official said. "We are continuing to have ongoing meetings and conversations here at the White House".
