What time does the Scandal series finale start?

Tune in for the Scandal finale at 10/9c on ABC. Though the show, which first debuted in 2012, has seen its ups and downs over the years, when it first aired, it was a revelation. Will Olivia Pope and our favorite Gladiators return for another season?

Kerry Washington stars on the show as Olivia Pope and she is back in the character's famous white coat for the finale.

"I think we did basically what I had planned to be all of season seven in the finale of last season's Scandal", she said. "I am very good at what I do". The first photo shows the 41-year-old Washington laying on the carpet which used on the set of the show's fictional White House Oval Office.

Speaking recently on Good Morning America, Kerry Washington was asked what the last day on set was like. And while wins like that election have come at the cost of her darkening moral fortitude, there's always been a reason to cheer her on. "The question was: Are audiences ready to have the stories that we tell on television to be more inclusive?" said Washington. The extreme trauma of Olivia's high-achieving but emotionally dysfunctional childhood was never far from the series' mind, and Scandal's attentiveness to her psychology was one of the only things that allowed the anything-goes plotting to seem even vaguely coherent. I feel like she's such a courageous... she's very bold and confident.

"Now it feels very normal and obvious that women of color can lead shows, so hopefully that is something that Scandal has done".

Lastly, a word of advice: You'd better cherish your final hour with Olivia and her inner circle, because Rhimes confirmed that there are no plans to revisit any of the characters in a spinoff or even in a future episode of How to Get Away With Murder.

Though Scandal's plot line ends here, its legacy- the first series to introduce a black female lead to network drama after a almost 40-year hiatus, its ability to work in narratives that also made considerable efforts to spotlight LGBTQ, and women-focused stories- will certainly live on, and that is something to celebrate. After the finale, Jimmy Kimmel will host a Scandal after-show on Jimmy Kimmel Live, with the cast and Shonda Rhimes, as well as a Chaka Khan musical performance.
