Speaking of shaft, a guy with that name claims he began working with Cardi B in 2015 after she sought him out, hoping to propel her from social media to music stardom.
According to the litigation, Shaft is seeking $10 million in damages directly, and another $10 million in damages from Quality Control for impeding their previous deal.
Cardi B, 25, left Shaft for Atlanta-based Qality Control, which manages her fiance Offset's group Migos and rapper Lil Yachty. TMZ reported that Brophy said he never spoke to Cardi or her management, but he knows that's him in the photo because of the tiger fighting the snake tattoo - a tattoo he says he has had for 10 years.
Claims made against Cardi include "breach of contract, unjust enrichment, quantum meruit, declaratory judgment, and defamation" of her former manager, who works with WorldStar Marketing Group, as a result of Cardi telling others that "Shaft is robbing me". In December, Raphael says that Offset sent him an angry text.
In a statement provided to Billboard, a representative for Shaft said he "is disappointed by her actions to freeze him out of her career, which are detailed in the complaint". Raphael is alleging that that contract was not valid due to her pre-existing deal with KSR.
The rep continues, "Shaft is confident that his lawsuit will validate his conduct and substantiate his legal claims".
The lawsuit comes just as Cardi B takes a breather from her thriving tour schedule, saying that her pregnancy is making it tough to be constantly on the road.
