While new rumours suggest the next generation iPhone SE would launch in the third quarter of 2018, some earlier reports have also hinted the device may debut as early as WWDC 2018 in June.
Thanks to a bunch of leaked data over the course of the past few weeks, it is now thought that the iPhone SE would heavily borrow design cues from its elder brother, the iPhone X.
Despite the vast number of leaks, it's still unclear whether Apple will only upgrade the internals or launch it with an entirely new design.
Yuanta Securities drew that conclusion after conversations with Apple supplier Largan Precision, which produces smartphone lenses for the tech giant. This means that the iPhone which will be launched in the year 2019 is said to come with a triple year camera setup.
Finally there should be a refresh of the current 5.8-inch iPhone X. Macquarie set a $188.00 price objective on Apple and gave the company a buy rating in a report on Friday, January 26th. Fast forward to 2018 and there has been no activity on the 4-inch front and Apple is yet to confirm if the iPhone SE will get a successor. The latter model seems entirely unlikely, especially given that one of the main draws of the iPhone SE is its compact form factor. The first model is predicted to be the one we have been expecting - an all-screen display with FaceID resting in a notch on top of the display.
The leak came from a source within Samsung Display, the sole OLED supplier for the upcoming iPhones. Previous rumors pegged the iPhone SE 2 as having a May launch.
An analyst says the new model's disappointing sales could lead to the phone being cancelled - with production stopping as soon as this summer. Apple, however, eventually had to succumb to the changing market dynamics and was forced to increase the display size in 2014, However, a segment of Apple users craved for a smaller iPhone.
Experts believe the lack of interest in the phone is largely due to the notch, which many potential Chinese customers believe removes too much space on the screen.
The cameras would allow the rumored iPhone to have powerful 5x zoom vs. the current 2x zoom system. However, if they drop the port, the device may be waterproof.
It is 2018 now, and while a gold iPhone X option is not an option anymore, Apple could introduce brighter and more attractive options for masses to choose from.
Speculation has been building that Apple is slated to release a 6.1-inch iPhone next year that serves as a follow up to the 10th anniversary iPhone X. The firm issued a buy rating and a $220.00 price objective on the iPhone maker's stock.
