However, by the end of 2018, Netflix plans to have significantly increased the number of original shows on the service with 85% of new spending going to original programming. And, that's not all! While speaking at the MoffettNathanson's Media & Communications Summit 2018 Chief content officer Ted Sarandos confirmed the news and also told the press that more than 90 per cent of its consumers regularly watch original content, according to a report by Variety. A monthly subscription gets you access to seemingly endless movies and T.V. shows that get recycled every month to bring you fresh and new content.

Netflix may have started out as an online video streaming service that made it very easy for you to stream TV shows and movies from other networks and studios but it has since grown into a veritable original content powerhouse.

The US based company now faces stiff competition from Hulu, Amazon Prime and will also have to watch out for Disney's own streaming service, reportedly slated to debut next year.

Differentiating its local original content from that of local broadcasters will help Netflix succeed in what he termed "a television starved market", speaking at the MoffettNathanson Annual Media & Communications Summit in NY.

Netflix has brought some pretty spectacular original shows into our lives, and from the looks of their new spending, they're only going to create more awesome original content.

Netflix has some great new originals coming later this year, including The Innocents, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Carmen Sandiego and literally hundreds more.
