Having had his contract terminated by UAE second division side Al-Fujairah, it was quickly reported - and then denied - that El Diego had been reinstated days later.

"Yes, Diego is with us", the club tweeted.

"I signed the contract and I AM the president of the club Dinamo Brest", he wrote on Instagram.

With Fujairah he left the club after failing to secure promotion to the UAE's top flight in April.

Legendary football player Diego Armando Maradona signed a three-year contract with the football club, Dynamo Brest, and took office as chairman of the club's board. "Thank you for the confidence and for thinking of me".

The 57-year-old will take charge of Dynamo, who are eighth in their league, after the conclusion of this year's World Cup in Russian Federation.

Maradona, one of football's most divisive figures off the field, will oversee the "strategic development" of the club when he takes over following the June14-July 15 World Cup in Russian Federation, according to a tweet.

Diego Maradona's career took another surprise turn late on Tuesday when he was announced as chairman of Belarusian club Dynamo Brest. With him in charge the Brest-based team won the Super Cup and qualified for the final of Belarus' Cup.
