Antoine Griezmann: Barcelona transfer approved by Diego SImeone after Europa League win

Marseille had been desperate to win the second European trophy in their history, on French soil, 25 years after beating AC Milan in the inaugural Champions League final.

Payet, 31, lasted just 31 minutes of the final against the LaLiga outfit as they succumbed to a 3-0 defeat in Lyon on Wednesday night. I left home when I was 14 years old because I wanted to win trophies.

Europa League match victor, Antoine Griezmann, was coy on his future, after scoring twice as Atletico Madrid beat Marseille 3-0 to secure the trophy in Lyon, France on Wednesday.

Griezmann, who was named man of the match in Lyon, has been Atletico's leading scorer in each season since he joined from Real Sociedad for £23.7m in July 2014.

Captain Gabi's late strike rubber-stamped Atletico's third Europa League triumph since 2010 and gave Griezmann his first major trophy with the team. I have no doubt that there are certain things that could make it more likely that he stays.

"We had to keep going", Simeone said at the postgame news conference.

"I hope he has the same career because he deserves it and takes this team where he wants, at least among the top sides in the world". Now we are in the UEFA Super Cup, so he could play four finals with us.

Describing himself as "happy" with the outcome, Griezmann continued: "I have been working to experience such a moment for many years".

"We hoped that he'd be at 100 percent and we gave him a fitness test this morning. So on a sporting level we aren't so far from the clubs that have more power than us". "If he stays we'll keep growing because we are destined to keep growing".

"It was a dream of mine to win a trophy with Atleti, with Simeone and with my team mates", Griezmann added. "I owe a lot to Simeone and my team mates".

Griezmann's decisive contribution helped erase bitter memories of 2016, when he missed a second-half penalty in Atletico's Champions League final loss to Real Madrid.

Victory for Atletico, who have already qualified for the Champions League, means the automatic group-stage berth will go to third place in France, a spot in which Marseille could still finish.
