A surprise announcement came this morning at The CW's upfront presentation in NY that this year's Arrowverse crossover will feature Batwoman - note that it's not Batgirl, but rather the "Kate Kane" version introduced in the 52 comic book series in 2005 - and Gotham City will also be introduced to the Arrowverse story!
What do you think about Batwoman being added to the Arrowverse for the upcoming crossover?
Arrow star Stephen Amell shared the big news at The CW's upfront presentation on Thursday. "I need to leave right now and start filming it!" But we do know that at least one bat-hero will be there to meet the gang in the form of Batwoman herself. She has also had a notable role on the animated side of things, serving as the subject of the 2003 feature Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman and appearing in two of the current DC Animated Universe films, as well as Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
"We are adding the city of Gotham into the Arrowverse", CW boss Mark Pedowitz added.
"This will be another full-throttled action packed event", said Pedowitz.
The CW did not reveal who has been cast in the role of Batwoman or when exactly in December we can expect this crossover.
Batwoman is Katherine Kane, a vigilante who operates in Gotham City.
In the modern era, her legacy is taken up by the army brat Kate Kane, a lesbian expelled from West Point due to her sexuality.
Let the speculation begin as to which version of Batwoman they're going to go with for the Arrowverse.
