Ryan Reynolds didn't want millennial pop star for Deadpool 2 song

Ryan Reynolds returns as the titular scamp - once a handsome Canadian human named Wade, now a heavily scarred vigilante whose altered genes have awakened the power to, among other things, constantly regenerate himself.

REYNOLDS: Not really. To make a great rated-R comic book film you've definitely got to push the boundaries a little bit and we leave that to the editing process to figure out what we want to keep and what we don't.

Colbert had enough and told Deadpool that it was time for him to leave, in which the superhero agreed.

Following the surprise success of Deadpool a sequel was inevitable, and two years on Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as the "merc with the mouth" for an amped-up second go-around. "Please guys, no one stand up", Reynolds' Deadpool said. So "Deadpool 2" is really, at its core, about how one act of kindness can change the world.

"My 1-year-old daughter would just sob, I mean for hours after seeing me. This is the flawless opportunity for me to promote my new movie Deadpool 2 in theaters Friday, and yes I would love to be your guest tonight, thank you for asking". And yes, I would love to be your guest tonight.

Ever since Deadpool burst onto the movie scene in 2016, fans have been clamouring for a team-up movie between the Ryan Reynolds character and X-Men favourite Wolverine. "Thank you for asking". I think there's a real opportunity to not burden the narrative by shattering Wade's life, so then at the beginning our movie you get to have him just be part of the team, which is obviously a very challenging prospect for someone like Wade Wilson. "I for one loved his work in Back to the Future".

Instead, Deadpool briefly borrowed the host's glasses in order to finish out the monologue and present jokes about Donald Trump, including his son Eric and his (alleged) Russian hotel room activities.

The laughs come thick and fast, the action is everything you would expect from a Marvel movie with several quality set pieces, yet at the heart of the movie it retains a tale of a superhero facing loss, questioning his motives and his own mortality.

Both Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool (totally different people) have expressed their interest in a proper crossover with Wolverine from the X-Men franchise.

Reynolds, 41, joked that his daughter James has become "insufferable" since she appeared on Taylor Swift's song "Gorgeous".

"The administration is still dealing with the fallout announcing that the USA will be pulling out of the Iran deal", the red-suited hero said in the monologue.
