President Donald Trump reported having paid his personal attorney more than $100,000 as a reimbursement for a payment made

Mr Trump previously denied knowing of the $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels.

Rudy Giuliani, who recently began providing legal representation for Trump, said in a Fox News interview earlier this month that Trump reimbursed Cohen.

The latest ethics disclosure did not describe the objective or the recipient of the original 2016 payment to a "third party" made by Cohen, for which he was reimbursed by Trump. "Mr. Cohen sought reimbursement of those expenses and Mr. Trump fully reimbursed Cohen in 2017".

The 92-page disclosure form said the payment was "not required to be disclosed as 'reportable liabilities, '" though it said Trump disclosed it "in the interest of transparency".

In a memo to employees, AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson had said the company made a "big mistake" in hiring Cohen as a consultant.

Althoff said Novartis, which is based in Basel, Switzerland, had hired Cohen for $100,000 per month, but determined after a single meeting with him that he wouldn't be of use.




After the payment to Daniels was first revealed by the Wall Street Journal, Cohen acknowledged making the payment himself. Dillon didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Office of Government Ethics, which released the report, disagreed with that assessment.

It was a complaint by CREW last week that prompted the Justice Department and OGE to investigate the omission of the Cohen liability from the 2017 report.

The letter constitutes a referral by the ethics office of a possible false financial filing. "Mr. Trump fully reimbursed Mr. Cohen", the disclosure report said.

The letter by the office to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said that Trump's financial disclosure reports were being provided "because you may find the disclosure relevant to any inquiry you may be pursuing regarding the president's prior report", which was filed in June 2017.

Trump's hotel in the U.S. capital, which opened in late 2016, took in $40.4 million during 2017 while the Florida resort had revenues of $25.1 million a year ago. The ethic documents is an annual disclosure made by federal officials.
