According to TMZ, the star had "a known health condition" relating to his heart and there will be no autopsy carried out.

Amick says Boyd had a number of medical problems, including heart failure, kidney failure and liver problems.

Neal Evans Boyd was born November 18, 1975, and grew up in Sikeston. His backstory was appropriately bittersweet; as a young man who grew up in poverty, an insurance salesman turned opera singer followed his dream with the support of his family behind him.

Neal starred on America's Got Talent in 2008, going on to scoop first place on the talent show after winning the audience over.

Boyd's death comes a year after he was in a serious auto accident with his mom, Esther Boyd, in January 2017.

Boyd's twitter biography still has the line, "Boyd for Missouri 2014". "I shattered a lot of bones, and shattered my hip, which has left me nearly unable to use that leg for now", he said.

He also told the outlet that he was planning on releasing new music, an album called In the Middle of it All, in 2019, adding that it was "uplifting". Just be grateful that you survived.

In 2011, the singer ran as Republican for the Missouri House of Representatives. "When God's given you the time to rebuild your spirit and rebuild your body", the singer said.
