Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant hinted that he may end up signing his final contract this summer.

"It's not about the record", Durant said last week.

"Sometimes you don't negotiate", Myers told the Associated Press. Even with him, though, Golden State needed a Game 7 comeback just to defeat the Houston Rockets on the road and reach the Finals this year, but the beat-down of Cleveland seemed to reinforce the notion for some that the National Basketball Association has lost its competitive balance. "He's earned the right to sign whatever deal he wants".

"I just don't think that'll happen, man". I don't know if guys are ready for that. He can do whatever he wants. That shouldn't be a long negotiation. You helped us get here.

"There wasn't anything emotionally that was bothering us, it was more we gotta figure this out strategically and I think we did".

Durant said he wants people to realize that he gave it his all. "Kevin's really the free agent we have to focus on".

Lane joined the Warriors in 2015 and has been a staple of the training room ever since, often seen working with the likes of Curry, who only played 51 regular season games in 2017-18 due to ankle injuries and a Grade 2 MCL sprain. "You guys asked me this previous year", said James, whose averages of 34.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 10.0 assists went for naught over the four-game defeat.

The comments were a surprise to many, including those who cover the team closely, who seemed to have very little idea what West could be referring to. "I know I don't", Durant told ESPN. "So I'm not trying to go out there and force anything".

Myers also downplayed any tension or turmoil that took place privately. He praised Golden State's "unselfish environment", in which Curry was the NBA's reigning two-time MVP when Durant arrived, and said he was happy to have been able to put himself in a discussion of "the greats", such as "Kobe, M.J., LeBron, Kareem".

Kerr plans to take it easy for the next several months and not work much as Myers handles the contracts and money, while leaving summer league coaching duties to Willie Green.

The entire exchange was just weird, especially for what should just be a fun celebration on another very successful Warriors season.

"I never could have envisioned this".

Once Durant officially re-signs, the Warriors will yet again become the overwhelming favorite to win next year's title.
