The Democratic candidates have a challenge getting voters to remember their names.

Rep. Mark Sanford, R-S.C. - a former SC governor who has never lost a bid for political office - is sweating Tuesday's primary against a newcomer who has portrayed him as a disloyal Never-Trumper, Politico reported.

It is a different story in western counties, where voters must choose between a Republican and Democratic ballot.

Virginia features four House races that are expected to be competitive in November's general election.

Before casting a ballot, Virginia voters in the primary election must declare whether they want a Republican or Democratic ballot.




A statewide primary will decide the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate.

As recently as the 1990s, Democrats and Republicans were fairly even divided in Nevada, a state that had supported Republican presidents including Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and his son, George W. Bush.

Democrats in VA-10: Candidates are Jennifer Wexton (see my endorsement here), Alison Friedman, Lindsey Davis Stover, Dan Helmer, Julia Biggins and Paul Pelletier.

This week's principal focus is on Virginia, a state trending increasingly blue where Republicans hold a number of vulnerable House seats.

Democrats are also waging closely watched contests in Hampton Roads and central Virginia.

"I have the lived experience to be competitive in every inch of this district".

With both party primaries set for Tuesday, strong Democratic candidates are expected to emerge to challenge almost every major statewide office now held by Nevada Republicans, offering Democrats their best shot in years to seize political control over the state.

Five of these eight states-Pennsylvania, Florida, Minnesota, Ohio, and Michigan-were battleground states in 2016 (though Democrats and the mainstream media did not realize Minnesota was a battleground state until election day, when Hillary Clinton squeaked to a narrow victory there).

The six-way primary in Northern Virginia's 10th District - a suburban swing district represented by Rep. Barbara Comstock (R) - is the marquee race on the Democratic ballot, followed by a hot contest outside Richmond for the Democratic nomination to challenge Rep. Dave Brat (R).

Arrington is accusing Sanford of seeking the spotlight and impeding Trump's agenda.
