N. Korean leader arrives in Pyongyang after Trump summit: reports

"I feel that Kim Jong Un wants to do something great for his people", Trump said at a press conference in Canada before departing the G-7 summit for Singapore.

A television screen at the Baro bar broadcasts the Singapore summit meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, as customers sit at the bar in the Korea Town section of Manhattan, New York, U.S., June 11, 2018.

The Singapore agreement does not detail plans for North Korea to demolish a missile engine testing site, a concession Trump said he'd won, or Trump's promise to end military exercises in the South while negotiations between the USA and the North continue.

If the U.S. pulls out of South Korea, as Trump wants to, it will accelerate China's dominance in Asia, and likely around the world. "No longer - sleep well tonight!" the President wrote.

At a news conference in Singapore after almost five hours of talks there with Kim, Trump said he "knows for a fact" that North Korea is serious about denuclearization this time and that Kim "wants to do the right thing". -South Korea military exercises, handing North Korea a win on one of its longtime policy goals.

The Trump administration has called for complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization (CVID) on the Korean Peninsula, while Tuesday's joint statement mentioned only of a commitment "to work towards complete denuclearization".

It marked the first time any leader of North Korea has set foot in South Korea, as the pair announced plans to denuclearize the Korean peninsula and hinted at a possible reunification.

The second reference stated: "Kim Jong-un said in order to achieve peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and realise its denuclearisation, the two countries should commit themselves to refraining from antagonising with each other out of mutual understanding, and take legal and institutional steps to guarantee it". But at his post-summit news conference, the United States president described them as "very provocative".

Trump, seemingly unprompted, has long wanted to withdraw the US from South Korea, and now he may have found a reason.

Pompeo said Wednesday that Trump "made it very clear that the condition precedent for the exercises not to proceed was productive, good-faith negotiations being ongoing". South Korea was largely responsible for convincing Pyongyang and Washington to come to the negotiating table. "I think they will be continued for a while".

On the other hand, Russian Federation and China, who joined North Korea in criticizing the joint military drills in the past, welcomed Trump's decision. As the two flags hung side-by-side in the backdrop for the first time ever, both Kim and Trump expressed hope that their summit would be fruitful. -South Korea joint military exercises that take place every year.

In August 2017, Pyongyang threatened missile strikes on Guam, the only USA territory easily in reach of North Korean missiles.

But the new epoch envisioned here by Trump and Kim may be one in which the USA loses its grip on Asia, and then the world, and the new future will likely be ruled from Beijing, not Washington. He said he planned to continue sharing the view with Washington and Seoul.

"The human rights situation in North Korea hasn't changed one iota as a result of the summit".
