The Blockbuster from 'Last Week Tonight' just closed

The last Blockbuster in Bend Oregon

The last Blockbuster in Bend Oregon

The Alaska Blockbusters made national headlines earlier this year when John Oliver bought a number of movie items from Russell Crowe's post-divorce auction, including a leather jockstrap from Cinderella Man and a vest from Les Miserables, and sent them to the stores.

Alaska's Wasilla, North Pole and Soldotna stores, along with another one in Anchorage, have all closed shop for good this year, the Anchorage Daily News reported. That will leave the OR store as the last operating Blockbuster in the country. Kevin Daymude, Blockbuster Alaska general manager Kevin Daymude told CNN affiliate KTVA. Slowly but surely, Blockbuster began to fade away like Thanos performed the "Snap" on all of the store's locations. The stores will reopen at noon on July 17, staying open through August for inventory sales. The last surviving Blockbuster will be in Bend, Or.

"We have no plans on closing anytime soon", Harding said. We hope to see you at our stores during the closing, even if it's just to say 'Hello.' What a great time to build your media library and share some Blockbuster memories with us. While all Blockbuster corporate stores have been closed in the US for some time, a third party licensed the name from Dish and had been operating Blockbuster stores in recent years.

In the Fairbanks area, Vey said the challenge of getting speedy, affordable internet service is one thing that brings people to the store. "The memorabilia is probably going to go back to the owner", Daymude explained, "which is fine, because I don't want a jockstrap in my house".

The store also posted a video of two people carrying a candle and setting it in front of the store.

Alaska had always been - I always thought they'd outlast us. "I'm not sure what we're going to do with it".

Sandi Harding, the Bend store's general manager, told CNN she was surprised her store was the last one open.

Now, about a quarter of the customers at her store are tourists.

"We will miss all of you!"

"You would not believe how much business we got just from that memorabilia alone", he said. "It just seems a little insane".
