At the Star Trek: Discovery panel, moderated by comedian and new cast member Tig Notaro, the cast and crew revealed some new additions to the show for its second season, which might be familiar to fans of the past.
With original showrunner Bryan Fuller out, replacement showrunners Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts also gone, and Kurtzman now in, Star Trek: Discovery seems to be going all out for its second season to make up for the various changing of hands and the bumpy journey it's had from concept to execution to final product.
It's official! Everyone's favorite intrepid Vulcan will be appearing in Star Trek: Discovery Season 2. She plays new character Reno, who from the brief look we get at her in the trailer seems to have a rather devil may care attitude towards danger. Who will play this iconic leading lady? Spock casting news should be made available soon.
Marvel's Inhumans star Anson Mount is playing the role of Captain Christopher Pike in Star Trek: Discovery. In a recent interview, Mount talked about how cool it is to be a part of a Star Trek project, noting that it's been "crazy". "Each episode will deliver closed-ended stories while revealing clues about what's to come on in future STAR TREK: DISCOVERY episodes". At least, if this awesome looking trailer is anything to go by.
Number One, the stoic second in command first seen in the original Star Trek pilot and "The Menagerie", was originally played by Majel Barrett Roddenberry, creator Gene Roddenberry's second wife. Season 2 will consist of 13 episodes and will see the search for Spock unfold. But for me and based on what I heard about the first season, there's not enough here to be like, "Yes, I must pony up for a CBS All Access subscription to watch this excellent TV show".
