God of War's New Game+ mode gets a release date

God of War gets New Game+ later this month

God of War Gets New Game Plus on August 20

In a new blog post, Santa Monica Studios revealed that the God Of War update will allow you to re-experience the game with all the progress you made during your first playthrough.

God of War is a fantastic game but it doesn't really offer much for players to do once they've gathered every collectible, completed all side quests, and found the best armor pieces. Sony said that players' opinions and requests for a New Game+ mode had been heard and that one was in the works, but a release date for it wasn't known. To start a New Game Plus, you'll need to have finished the story. You can set it to the same difficulty or choose a new one. Are you planning on playing through New Game Plus in God of War?

New Game+ is pretty self-explanatory, allowing you to carry all your hard-earned gear and powers across to a brand new adventure. "With New Game+ comes along a host of new gear, more hard enemies, and cinematic skipping". Speaking of armors, you can collect a new type of resource called "Skap Slag" to give your gear the highest upgrade possible.

According to Kaufman, not only will the forthcoming patch be the "biggest update to God of War" yet, but also it has been inspired by player feedback, so it will be interesting to see how the fan base reacts when it goes live.

Finally, get right back into the action with the newly added ability to skip through cinematics in both normal and New Game+ modes once a full play through has been completed.
