Mauricio Pochettino unsure if Spurs will make any signings before window closes

Speaking ahead of his side's game against AC Milan in the International Champions Cup on Wednesday, Pochettino said he hoped the positive World Cup enjoyed by several Tottenham players such as Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen would be reflected in the forthcoming season.

"But then you see boys (born in) 2000 or 2001, or in 1997 and 1998, who are great talents and they are given the opportunity to play, and show that they can do so at a high level". "That is the most important thing", he said.

Tottenham finished their preseason tour of the USA with a 1-0 victory over AC Milan, with Georges-Kevin Nkoudou hitting the second-half victor.

Nine Spurs players reached the semifinals in Russian Federation, while captain Hugo Lloris went on to win the World Cup with France for the first time in 20 years.

"I don't know if we are going to sign or not".

"We can not [pick them] because we need them, or because [they are] some names, or the people will be disappointed. Who knows, the crossover between local supported success and the worldwide global game, you can see it right there behind us", said Watson, looking at the crowds at the Fan Fest outside the stadium. But what you get with him is he is so focused on delivering for this club - and that's why any of us who work around him think it's grossly unfair. Football is about energy - respecting yourself, your team-mates, the team, being professional. You've seen Luke Amos play in the last week.

"I'll always say that a full-back is there to be part of the defence first and foremost, but if you can chip in at the other end with the odd one here and there it's definitely a valuable asset to have".

"They need to feel very proud about the youngsters".

Spurs held on to take a 1-0 victory that puts them on top of the table with seven points having played their three matches.

Whether his performances in America with goals against two of Europe's biggest clubs will have done his chances of staying in Pochettino's plans any good remains to be seen, but if the majority of fans would have their way, it would make little difference. I feel very good physically, and I don't have any [injury] problems.
