The winning goal came just 34 minutes in, as World Cup-winner N'Golo Kante scored with a nice finish to the far post.

"I think that Eden in this moment can not play for 90 minutes, he needs to have training", Sarri said of the Belgium star.

Maurizio Sarri warned that it may take "a couple of months" to implement his style of football at Chelsea, adding that he is expecting his team to encounter problems in the first half of the season. "The best capacity was to suffer, but then I think the second half maybe they were exhausted".

Crystal Palace spoiled the return of London rivals Fulham to the Premier League with a 2-0 victory at Craven Cottage.

"Today with an Italian referee maybe there were 15 fouls more than with this referee". "But I have seen a player who is very happy to stay here, so I think it will be no problem, the new contract".

Huddersfield boss David Wagner accepted his side were roundly outplayed, highlighting defensive errors as contributing to a heavy home loss.

There were questions over whether Huddersfield could keep things rolling after their achievement last season and they really didn't play badly, especially in the first half. "I have to adapt myself [to] the characteristics of the players, and not vice versa".

"I have seen passion, desire, the spirit, which we usually have in our game".

Steve Mounie was unlucky not to score in said period when he got his head to a ball in the box to direct it towards the post and there were a few more opportunities in the match.

"We have to improve to defend in the other half, to press against three defenders".

FW Willian, 8 - Willian has also come in for unnecessary criticism from sections of Chelsea's support in recent weeks but, like Alonso, his contribution was pivotal when he assisted Kante's goal following a clever run. You can't switch on against a top-quality team like Chelsea.

As we know, Kante is not known for scoring goals but he's kept up his record of scoring at least one goal in a Premier League season by getting off to a flyer this afternoon.

Despite putting up a staunch defence in the first half, they found themselves down 2-0 heading into half time and on the losing end of a 3-0 scoreline. There were groans from some when the team was announced - the likes of Marcos Alonso, Willian and Alvaro Morata have not been popular with sections of Chelsea's support - but their performances vindicated Sarri's decisions.
