The Indonesian island of Lombok has been shaken by another strong natural disaster, just two weeks after the last one killed more than 460 people.
The PTWC says that based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaiʻi.
The quake was centered about 281 kilometers NNE of Ndoi Island at the remarkable depth of 559.6 kilometers. I realised it was an quake.
A strong natural disaster has jolted the Indonesian island of Lombok as it tries to recover from a quake earlier this month that killed 460 people. "They all ran to the street", East Lombok resident Agus Salim told AFP.
Residents said the quake was felt strongly in East Lombok.
The tremor was also felt in the island's capital Mataram and on the neighbouring resort island of Bali.
The quake struck southeast of Fiji and close to Tonga.
The quake occurred in the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, a region of frequent seismic activity due to collisions between continental plates.
