Bills' McCarron out 'several weeks'

Bills' Williams leaves with cast on right leg

The Josh Allen era might begin a little earlier than originally planned in Buffalo. The former Bengal also suffered a shoulder injury, the team announced.

Signed to a three-year deal in the offseason from the Cincinnati Bengals, McCarron incurred the injury during the Bills' Friday night preseason 19-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Browns defensive end Myles Garrett may have been the cause the collarbone injury when he hit McCarron in the first quarter of Friday's game. "He'll have some more tests when we get back".

The 35-year-old people-mover, played 31 regular-season games the past two seasons.

McCarron has completed 10 of his 16 passes for 128 yards and no touchdowns in two preseason games with the Bills. He finished the game with 12 yards on 3-for-6 passing.

Allen, the No. 7 overall pick in the draft out of Wyoming, took over for McCarron and was 9-of-13 for 60 yards with a touchdown pass and added 18 yards on three carries. Although Allen put some pressure on the veteran, McCarron might've been the smart the choice to be under center to start the 2018 National Football League season while the promising young rookie develops. He spent his first four National Football League seasons with Cincinnati before he signed a two-year contract with Buffalo in March.
