The son of a Delhi Police Assistant Sub Inspector has been arrested for brutally beating a woman earlier this month inside an office space in Uttam Nagar. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh took cognizance of the video and immediately launched a probe into the matter by calling the Delhi Police Commissioner and asking him to take relevant action. "I have spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner over the phone and directed him to take necessary action in this regard", Singh tweeted. She alleged that she was threatened with the same kind of treatment if she didn't follow his instructions.
"A stern action has been taken against the accused Tomar on the charges of assaulting a woman with intent to outrage her modesty and criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code", she added.
The accused was employed with a call centre till last month and is now unemployed.
According to reports, Tomar had sent the video to his ex-girlfriend to frighten her to come back to his life.
A case of rape has also been filed against Rohit Tomar, the son of a Delhi Police sub-inspector.
Singh intervened after coming to know about the viral video in which the accused - Rohit Tomar - was seen pulling the girl by the hair and brutally thrashing her.
The video since being posted has become viral on social media. Police said the video was shot on September 2 in Uttam Nagar.
Police said the woman who was allegedly threatened by Rohit with an assault video was in a relationship with him for one-and-a-half years and they were about to get married.
The cases against the accused have been registered on the basis of the statement given by two women, the police said.
