In an emotional and very necessary 10-minute clip, Dwyane Wade announced his intent to return to play for his 16th and final National Basketball Association season with the Miami Heat.

He spent months weighing up his options and only days ago admitted he was still undecided about his future.

Expect many players to pay homage to Wade over the course of his final year.

In a long video posted to multiple social media channels Sunday night, Wade appears on camera lit by a single spotlight with a black background behind him. And what I feel is right is to ask you guys to join me for one last dance, one last season.

"This is it. I've given this game everything that I have, and I'm happy about that, and I'm going to give it for one last season, everything else I have left".

Wade's headed into his 16th season with career averages of 22.5 points, 5.5 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. "Is it selfish for me to want to continue to be away from my family?"

Wade's final regular-season game won't be his final game overall if the Heat makes the playoffs, as many expect. Now, it looks as if Wade is set to retire in Miami.

Wade called his last season his "Sweet 16". He spent the beginning of last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, prior to being shipped to Miami at the trade deadline.

"And I've heard everything from my family to my fans around the world of what I should and shouldn't do", he said.

The plan going into this season will be to keep Wade in a reserve role, like last season.

"Let's enjoy it", Wade said. Wade would eventually say that he felt lost at times last season without Thomas, that he wasn't always getting the same joy out of playing the game as he once did.

After spending the entire summer considering his National Basketball Association future, Dwyane Wade has finally come to a decision.
