With a dark background and a generally greenish tint to the whole screen, it could be easy to miss in the half-second flashes of the Jokerized Phoenix, but a close look at the image shows that the green hair is as much a part of his clown makeup as the red smile. The teaser appears to be just a hint at The Joker's look though, and I doubt his final face paint will appear as it does in this teaser.
We'll be sure to get more footage of Phoenix's Joker as filming continues on the project, and with it, hopefully some answers to boot.
He simply captioned the post: "Camera test (w/ sound)".
Joker is shaping up to be a standalone, possibly R-rated film that doesn't tie into previous DC Comics movies.
Joker is set for release October 4, 2019, and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Phillips' exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale. However, a camera test video shared Friday on Instagram by director Todd Phillips teases more of the full picture.
