Jurgen Klopp makes admission about Mo Salah at Liverpool FC

GETTY Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has scored twice so far this season

Liverpool marked Jürgen Klopp's 600th league match as a manager by extending both their 100 per cent start to the season and lengthy unbeaten run at Anfield.

Will the 26-year-old get much game time this season?

Xherdan Shaqiri's first Liverpool start lasted just 45 minutes, and Jurgen Klopp has revealed why he substituted the Swiss global.

It was a something of a freakish game as Liverpool were nowhere near their best and Southampton, despite looking awful, had some threatening moments - mainly from Nathan Redmond, who had a half-claim for a penalty turned down after losing his balance while shooting under pressure from Firmino.

"It always helps the team and helps me get self-confidence for the game".

Firmino - who suffered his eye injury in the win at Tottenham - spearheads Jurgen Klopp's front four at Anfield, playing in front of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Shaqiri, the latter looking to make an impact after being restricted to two substitute appearances in the league this season.

Plenty were impressed with Shaqiri on his full debut...

But there is a chance that Klopp will pair him alongside the £75 million Dutchman again next Saturday in a potential top-of-the-table Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

"He tried everything. We only had problem in defensive [situations], offensive it was a good idea". But then we won game No.8 5-0, which was very cool! Different challenges, different styles of opponent, the boys were there, really in the situation and in the game.

They still have some way to go to match the club's best start to a campaign, though, as the 1990-91 side won 10 successive competitive matches. "I am really sure we are mature enough to understand it".

That said, Mark Hughes will ask questions of his Southampton defence as they were found wanting on each of the occasions they conceded.
