Rose drops 31 in Wolves’ 114-110 loss to Lakers

Former Sun Tyson Chandler officially signs with Lakers

Lakers make signing of veteran center Chandler official

The veteran center signed with Los angeles this week after clearing waivers on a contract buyout with the Suns. He immediately provided defense, rebounding and hard picks — all areas of need for the Lakers — while playing a surprising 23 minutes.

The Los Angeles Lakers got an immediate boost from their newest addition in their win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night, and many people believe LeBron James should be thanking one of his former teammates for that.

"I told him he needs an opt-out clause wherever he's at", James said with a smile.

James, who led the Lakers in scoring, nearly ended up with a triple double, with the small forward dropping 24 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. He has averaged 22.2 points along with 4.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists.

"I've been on the other side and played the villain, now it's great to be on this side".

Chandler went to school in the Compton section of L.A. but has been accustomed to a hostile reception at Staples Center, so he will lap up any adulation from Lakers fans. Thibodeau used the same starting lineup from Monday's loss to the Clippers.

James contributed 21 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists, and calmed the nerves of his young colleagues down the stretch.

In typical Skip Bayless fashion, the TV personality says the Rockets' woes might help LeBron James and the Lakers sneak into the playoffs this season in the rugged Western Conference.

"For us to be able to get him and have that one-two punch with JaVale [McGee] and Tyson, it creates extra opportunities for us".

The Toronto Raptors continued their impressive run this season with a 114-105 win over the Sacramento Kings.
