Real Madrid's newly-appointed manager Santiago Solari has made the decision to relegate Isco to a secondary role at Real Madrid, and this could only mean one thing: the reigning champions of Europe look set to part ways with the talented playmaker as soon as the chance arises. Vinicius and Marco Asensio would play alongside each other when they take on Melilla on Thursday.
In the meantime, Solari will prepare for Sunday's league visit to Huesca having seen his side complete a regulation second-leg victory over Melilla despite the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema not even making the matchday squad.
"All players in the squad, plus the guys from the Castilla squad who can play are working with intensity, enthusiasm and they're excited", Solari told a press conference.
Solari said: 'Today's game was beneficial.
Having left the newly-crowned Ballon d'Or victor Luka Modric out of the 18, Solari had to be patient and it was not until the 33rd minute that the La Liga giants got their noses in front when Asensio ran on to full-back Dani Carvajal's ball and fired into the bottom corner of Pedro Luis' goal.
Many have questioned the result given Modric's underwhelming start to the 2018-19 campaign, but Solari has no doubt the Croatian deserves his prize. He's had a wonderful year and he's given everything to Real Madrid and his national team. It seems to me that at that age it's more attractive because he can truly value it. "So, we are very happy for him".
This match will not be broadcast live on UK TV.
Meanwhile, Man City are reportedly in talks with Real Madrid for a possible deal for Brahim Diaz in January.
